The aim of the CSMA is to provide additional opportunities for every child in Croydon to enjoy music.
Croydon Schools Music Association has been providing musical opportunities for children in the borough since 1933.
An orchestra drawn from professional musicians who teach in our schools brings live orchestral music to thousands of pupils in a relaxed and enjoyable way at our December schools concert.
We also present the annual Infant and Junior Choir festivals every March. The invitation to schools to take part can be downloaded here.
All Croydon maintained schools and academies are automatically members of the association and are sent information regularly. The CSMA is run on a voluntary basis by an elected committee of teachers. All teachers are eligible to serve on the committee. The Committee is elected from Croydon teachers and musicians. Each year the CSMA holds its Annual General Meeting January).
Check out this video of the latest CSMA Christmas Concert which took place on 1 December 2016 at The Croydon Minster.
Our talented staff and musicians from the Croydon Youth Orchestra, presented an excellent programme of The Snowman, a medley of music from 'Frozen', alongside Christmas carols and Mark Ronson's Uptown Funk in this year’s Christmas celebration.
The orchestra was joined by a fantastic choir from Riddlesdown Collegiate and a nativity scene from The Hayes Primary, Helen Bretherick as Narrator and even The Snowman as guest conductor! Visiting primary school staff and children filled up the seats of The Minster in Croydon.
