Our Saturday centre caters for our beginner players and offers a range of groups to join to suit the majority of young instrumentalists and singers.
It is often involved in project-based work, where guest artists are invited to collaborate with our Saturday groups. In the past, this has included sessions with the Grand Union Orchestra, Kinetika Bloco and Stomp.
View our Croydon Young Musicians Infographic to find out how pupils may progress through the groups.

Star Workshops
9:00 to 11:00am
Being a member of the Star Workshops involves two hours of music workshops that take place at our Saturday centre. The first hour is instrumental workshops for strings, wind, brass and percussion players who are in year 3 and above and are in the early stages of learning. The second hour is VoiceWorks, a choir for all children involved in workshops where there is opportunity to learn new singing techniques and a fun range of pieces as well as meet musicians from other workshop groups.
The Workshops are designed to complement the music-making opportunities young instrumentalists and singers have in schools and help them to develop the skills which are essential for making further progress in music and for joining more advanced groups.
Young musicians study and perform an exciting mixture of music including classical and popular styles and folk music from around the world. They are also offered exciting performance opportunities, such as playing in large-scale concert halls. Performances take place throughout the year.
Includes groups for strings, brass, woodwind, percussion, guitar & keyboard.
