Classroom music including instrumental learning will provide a stimulus for students to have specialist lessons.

Progression in instrumental or vocal lessons is offered by the opportunity to have group and paired lessons to individual Merit Award lessons.

Instrumental teachers’ reports can provide evidence of the attributes gained through music which research has shown contributes to academic achievement (see Professor Sue Hallam’s, The Power of Music).  Where schools support instrumental learning with Pupil Premium this provides the evidence of impact.

Progression routes include the Kinetika Bloco holiday courses and the Club Soda Soda Jam sessions.

From September 2018, progression routes in our Croydon Young Musicians Saturday centre will include Star Classes for music production (with assistive technology for disabled young musicians) and carnival percussion (with special provision for learning disabled young musicians).

From January 2019 there will be an inclusive ensemble.
