Our Star Classes are held during term time at Croydon Music and Arts (Oasis Academy Shirley Park) on Saturday mornings. They are held in a larger class and run from 9 to 10am.

Pupils in Year 3 upwards can choose violin, cello, guitar or keyboard.

Pupils in Year 4 upwards can choose flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, or one of our Endangered Species instruments; oboe, bassoon, French horn or double bass.

Instruments are not provided at the Star Classes, however instrument hire is available for all instruments except piano, keyboard, guitar, ukulele, saxophone, recorder and drums.

Pupils can attend a lesson in school and a Star Class at the same time.  As well as having specialist tuition on their chosen instrument young musicians in Star Classes also have the opportunity to play in larger groups.

Star Classes cost £26 per term (£10.40 for Free School Meals children and free for children who are Looked After).

Making Progress

Once young musicians have achieved their first Croydon Music Star award they can join one of our Star Workshops (also 9.00 - 10.00 on Saturday morning).  After achieving their third Croydon Music Star award young musicians can progress to more advanced ensembles and a Merit Award individual lesson.
