Mini Music Makers- Coming Sept 2025

Mini Music Maker sessions are an introduction to music making through singing, dancing and movement. Children will have the opportunity to have fun developing musical skills, knowledge and understanding in a practical multi-sensory way.

How does this benefit my child?

  • The child will learn to use his/her first instrument – the voice and body in this way the musical experience will embed deeply

  • They will be prepared for future musical learning, e.g. instrumental lessons, dance classes

  • They are rooted in the best educational practice:

     - recognising the three stages of learning – unconscious experience, making conscious and reinforcement

     - following the long-standing, tried-and-tested approaches devised by Zoltán

Kodály (developing musicianship through singing) and Emile Jaques Dalcroze (developing musicianship through movement)

  •  ‘musicianship’ develops musical skills, knowledge and understanding in a practical and multi-sensory way

  • gradually, children are taught to read and write music with real understanding and facility

Similar classes are taught at major music conservatoires such as Junior Guildhall, where the children have two years of pre-instrumental training. They then continue the musicianship training alongside learning an instrument, and become truly rounded, confident, joyful musicians.

✓ What may appear to be very simple songs and rhymes form the basis for the children’s
learning and understanding. By understanding the structure of simple material initially,
children can apply this knowledge to more complex works in the future

✓ The way in which the children are taught will encourage them to be independent and
creative.
