Help With Fees

We believe that all children should have access to musical opportunities and that no child should miss out on financial grounds. We therefore offer substantial fee reductions on lessons, classes and ensembles. Pupils eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) automatically receive a 50% discount on lessons, classes, and instrument hire. Children who are Looked After (CLA) can attend all centre activities for free. Please see below for additional discretionary bursaries
Please note:
- You must apply for tuition or an activity before applying for help with fees
- Remissions are available for the first instrument only (e.g. if a child is having tuition for two different instruments, the fee reduction can only be applied to one of them).

Free School Meals reduction and CMA Bursaries

  • Free School Meals (FSM) discounts apply for one instrument only

  • In order to receive the Free School Meals lesson rate, you will be asked to complete a help with fees application via this link to Speedadmin and send a copy of the relevant documentation. (Please be aware there is no FSM reduction available for Individual 20 or Individual 30 min lessons)

  • For parents/carers who are financially squeezed (but not eligible for the Free School Meals discount of 50% on all activities,) the CMA Bursary offers a 50% fee reduction on their main centre activity and/or 30% reduction on lesson fees.

Merit Bursary

(Based on the progress a student is making, commitment to their chosen ensemble, and financial need, but not eligible for the other bursaries)

  • Available for students who have individual lessons* on an instrument, are making good progress and either attend, or would like to attend one of our centres.
*Lessons do not need to be with a CMA teacher.

  • Offers a 50% fee reduction on a student's main centre activity.

  • A minimum of 90% attendance is expected at rehearsals and performances to retain the bursary. Students can apply via this form. CMA will then request a short report from their teacher confirming progress made over the previous year.
