The fund was established in 1977 following the death in 1974 of Dorothy Grinstead who was a much- loved piano teacher and musician in Croydon.  A board of Trustees was formed to administer the fund to assist young Croydon musicians.

How can the fund help you?

  • Help with purchasing a new instrument

  • Help with tuition costs

  • Help with course costs

The Grinstead Music Fund has been expanded to support a broader range of talent across both Intermediate (Grades 3–5) and Advanced (Grade 6+) levels. This enables applicants to access opportunities aligned to their stage of development, while an internal threshold ensures funding is directed where it will have the greatest impact. Applicants can continue to progress through the levels as they develop. Those moving from Intermediate to Advanced may apply up to three times within the Advanced level, in addition to any applications made at the Intermediate level.
