Friday Centre,Tuition in SchoolsJon studied Music at Exeter University, followed by an MMus in Performance (Conducting and Violin) at Trinity College of Music, and later a PGCE in Secondary Music at the Institute of Education. He worked for several years as a freelance musician, playing violin and viola, teaching, and directing amateur groups including the Dorking Philharmonia from 1999 to 2013. During this time his main passion was as the viola player in string trio, Pluck, a classical-comedy-theatre crossover group, which won numerous awards at festivals 2002-2010, and enjoyed touring worldwide. He joined CMA in 2011, alongside some part-time roles at Trinity School, Riddlesdown Collegiate and Archbishop Tenison's. He became Deputy Head of CMA in 2018 and later Co-Head in 2024. In his spare time he is a trustee of the Grinstead Music Fund and Musical Director of the Erato Chamber Orchestra. He took up tennis during the pandemic and is attempting to improve!
