Croydon Music and Arts Music Tutor Panel is a panel of talented and passionate music educators who are offered freelance work in Croydon Schools and CMA music centres. Most work is taught across 30 weeks of the year in line with the Croydon term dates.

Please note, in order to be paid as a freelance tutor as a sole trader, you will need to have a bank account in your full name for funds to be paid into.

We are always happy to hear from musicians who would like to join the panel. Specialisms we are especially looking for will be listed below and will also be posted on the Music Mark Jobs  website.

What we are looking for:

CMA are looking to grow our freelance music teacher panel. Whether you're an experienced teacher or a talented performer looking to move into education, we’d love to hear from you.

We are particularly interested in musicians who can offer any of the following specialisms for small group and individual teaching available in September 2026:

  • Brass (trumpet and trombone)
  • Guitar
  • Strings (violin and cello - double bass from January 2027)
  • Woodwind (clarinet and flute)
  • Piano/ keyboard
  • Curriculum music teacher

You will need to demonstrate

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities
  • A high level of musical proficiency (typically Grade 8+ or equivalent experience)
  • A professional, inclusive and flexible approach to teaching
  • Right to work in the UK and an Enhanced DBS (you will also need a business bank account)

How to apply

To apply to join the CMA Freelance Music Practitioner Panel, and therefore be able to available for tutoring assignments, please read the CMA Freelance Music Practitioner Job Description  and then complete and send the application form below to isabel.fixter@croydon.gov.uk together with a link to a video of a solo performance on all instruments you are able to teach. Additional evidence will be required if applying for classroom or musical direction work.
